Six full days of lovely walking in the Peak District of Derbyshire will provide a wonderful Spring break. Sycamore Farm Barns are high in the hills near Wirksworth, and have a beautiful, tranquil feel. Our groups are warm and friendly, and provide a chance to make new friends. New venue, but same great veggie/vegan food and same leaders. Lots of new walks and places to see. Varied hill and valley walking are the main focus of this break as we explore the Peak District, one of Britain's first national parks. Two leaders enables us to offer a choice of two walks each day, a gentle walk and a more challenging one. The optional before-breakfast yoga classes will help you to get in shape for the day. The group is led by local guide Chris Bristow, who is known for his warm, caring nature and sense of adventure. Chris lives in Derbyshire and has explored its hills and dales for many years. The food will be catered by Nigel Walker, founder of VegiVentures, and his team. Prices: to be confirmed.
English Lake District, Hill Walking Holidays
1 - 8 & 8 - 15 September 2012
Based at Buttermere, in the heart of the ‘Western Fells’, this is VegiVentures 18th year in one of the most beautiful parts of England. The grounds of our guest house extend to the shores of Buttermere, starting point of many lake and mountain walks. Clean mountain air, pure water, excellent vegetarian/vegan food and safe hill walking led by our experienced Lakeland guide Heather Read, go to make these exceptional holidays. Hill, valley and lakeside walking are the main features. For early risers there is a stretch, breathing and movement class. There is also a wide choice of gentle activities in the region: visit Wordsworth's cottage at Grassmere, take a boat on Lake Windermere or Coniston, visit working watermills or do some relaxing shopping in Keswick.
On week one the walks are more gentle; this holiday is ideal for beginners and those who need to build up their fitness. Week two includes longer, medium-paced walks, venturing higher into the hills. On the final 2 - 3 days there will be the choice of a gentle walk or a higher more challenging walk led by Chris Bristow. These holidays are open to both the beginner and the more experienced mountain walker. The food is catered by Swiss-trained chef and founder of VegiVentures Nigel Walker.
Prices from £355 (£160 camping) for 7 nights half board.
